Q. What advice would you give to new students living on the Hill?
A. GET INVOLVED. But seriously, while you may find yourself super busy, join any club or group that you think might be fun because that’s how you’ll meet great people and form some of the best memories of your life. Do anything and everything that you think you’d enjoy, and then don’t be afraid to let some things go if they don’t fulfill what you’re looking for. There are opportunities for anyone to have the best time of their life here at UCLA if they just go out and find it.
Q. What’s your favorite place to eat on the Hill?
A. As far as favorite dining hall goes, De Neve is by far the best, and anyone who says otherwise is lying to themselves. Of all the places to eat, I would have to say that my heart lies with Bruin Cafe. Even though the menu is always the same, I can always count on that Turkey sandwich to be equally delicious every time and I just can’t get enough of it. It’s best to keep everything in moderation though.

Q. What advice would you give to new students living on the Hill?
A. One thing I would suggest to new students living on the Hill would be to thorougly take advantage of all the opportunities to get to learn about all the other students around them. UCLA is fairly diverse and large so each person has a different story to tell as they all come from different places and upbringings. The On-Campus Housing Council and the buildings on the Hill offer many programs to bring students together so it would be wise to use it to meet all sorts of students. It would be an excellent idea to actively try to enjoy all the social activites and events outside of studying because time goes by really fast and it is really easy to miss the opportunity.

Q. What advice would you give to new students living on the Hill?
A. My advice to the new student living on the Hill is let life come to you. I was so concerned my freshman year on having my life like high school with the great GPA, really close friends, and great extra-curricular involvement. However, as everything started to go on a downward spiral, I quickly got depressed. It was only at the end of my freshman year when a couple friends of mine were reminiscing about the year did I soon realize how much I missed out because I was stressing the whole time. Your college self may not be as “perfect” as your high school self in all aspects but you have to let yourself adjust and enjoy to special moments because you’re only in college once in your life.
Q. What’s your favorite memory at UCLA?
A. My favorite memory at UCLA was when my Rieber Terrace Staff and I went on the challenge course together at Sunset Rec. It was in that moment were I felt like I belonged to UCLA and that UCLA was my home. It felt great to be surround by such inspirational people doing some pretty risky things. We climb and jump off of telephone poles and scale walls. It was great fun. Everyone was supporting everyone. In addition, we were faced with hypothetical, yet tough situations and it was great to see how innovative all our minds were. These moments are the times I enjoy being part of such an amazing school of gifted people. Go BRUINS!!!
